Lorin Hart
The granddaughter of renowned silver screen stars, John Gilbert and Leatrice Joy, showbiz runs deep in Lorin Hart's blood. She has been writing songs of love and trouble for most of her tumultuous life. She attended Northwestern University and then rode a rich, musical wave that took her to Haight Ashbury, Woodstock, Cambridge, Greenwich Village, and even the backwoods of Arkansas.
After years of partnering with her folk singer husband and running with the likes of Tim Buckley, Leonard Cohen, Phil Oaks and Country Joe McDonald, they split up and she kept her guitar, the kids and half of the debt. In the late 90's, she recorded her debut solo CD entitled Breathe with the help of Hal Blaine and Don Randy of the famed Wrecking Crew. Tom Waits has said "Lorin Hart is like Buddy Holly's girlfriend, a downtown cowgirl, and her songs sound like the fairgrounds."
